How does Reiki work?

Reiki accelerates the body’s ability to heal physical and mental ailments and assists you to correct imbalances of mind and spirit which lead to disease. It opens you to the pleasure of taking responsibility for your own life and to receive the joy of relaxed and balanced wellness when this is done. We know of too many cases where severe, even terminal illnesses have been healed with the help of Reiki. There is no doubt it can help to achieve total health and recovery from dis-ease.

When I treat a person with Reiki, I do this by the laying on of my hands on various parts of the body. I will soon feel a kind of flowing sensation, often combined the sensation of warmth. You will often feel the flowing as noticeably as I do, and most people begin to relax during the treatment and may even fall asleep, but this will not make any difference to the desired effects of the session. Many various reactions may occur such as old and unresolved experiences may become conscious again in which a release of emotions may occur and tears will flow.

Although I lay my hands on the receivers body in order to link them to the energy of Reiki, it won’t merely affect you on the material plane (that of the physical body) but will involve you in combination of mind, body and spirit. Bodily illness or weakness is only the physical expression of a lack of basic order, a sure sign of having fallen out of a state of inner union with all of life.

            The five Reiki Principles

*Just for today do not worry… worry is a thought pattern which results from a feeling of separateness from the  I AM consciousness (universal oneness). To worry about the past is futile – we must remember that each person does the best that they can in each of life’s situations in accordance with the knowledge or wisdom that they have at any given moment.

To worry about the future is also futile. Expect the best in life, and when you receive something that you didn’t expect, know (trust) that it is the best for you in the present situation. Somehow you helped to create – on a subconscious level – the situation to learn, so feel gratitude that it has come to pass.

*Just for today, do not anger… Anger, in reality, is a totally unnecessary emotion. It has its roots in the feeling of guilt from having separated ourselves from the universal consciousness. To anger is to desire control which results from feeling out of control with our divine universal life purpose. Many people have allowed their ego to direct their life course creating inappropriate desires and expectations, and in doing this suffer untold grief. Anger is a very disharmonious energy which creates terrible disease in the body.

*Just for today, earn your living honestly… Of great importance to a harmonious life flow is honesty in dealing with oneself. To be honest with oneself is to face the truth in all things. To live in truth is to be aligned with your higher self’s purpose. Living in truth is also the simplest, least complex way to live, if you are honest with yourself, you will project honesty onto others. It then becomes much easier to ‘do unto others as you would do unto you’.

*Just for today, give thanks for your blessings… The simplest things in life can often bring us the greatest pleasure – a walk along the beach, spending time with family and friends, watching the sunset – all of life’s wonderful treasures are ours. Take time to enjoy the beauty of the world, material things do not always make us happy- look to enjoy the gifts of life that are provided to you freely.

*Just for today show gratitude to every living thing… Through physics we know that we are a collective energy from the same source. There is truly no solid matter only different levels of vibrations. All forms of matter vibrate at different energy levels yet they are all interconnected. Each person, animal, plant and mineral is included in the whole. To show gratitude is to love and respect ourselves and mother earth.
